30 day challenge, and other stuff
I am terrible at keeping up with my blogs, sue me. Don't though, I really don't have anything of value. Truly you will get nothing out of this endeavor. Anyway, I had family in town two weekends ago, and it is the first time anyone has visited me since leaving home. It was nice getting to hang out, be lazy, watch football, and just be with family for a couple days, especially while I have been learning to hate my job more and more every day. Working on fixing that problem too, I swear.
I am trying to make an effort to start going back to the gym on regular occasion, and so far so good. Along with that I am going to start a 30 day challenge tomorrow, that will consist of me only drinking water, milk, or something I brewed. Which includes tea, coffee, and beer. Yes I have started brewing my own beer, and it turned out well and I am proud that I didn't dork up my first try at the sometimes delicate process. I haven't set super specific goals with the working out yet, but getting my ankle back into working order and becoming more fit overall is a good start. Later this year I want to try some mud runs because it will get me out and trying something new and challenging.
I always say that I have a million things that I can do at home, hobby-wise, but I seem to continue to default to watching TV or playing video games. I have not really found a good way to convince myself to stop being so lazy, but have taken a step to help change that. As of February first, I will no longer have cable TV service. For the most part, I won't be missing a whole lot.I enjoy watching Food Network, and of course ESPN, but there really is not anything that I "have to see" on a daily or weekly basis. That and i have started Netflix streaming and mail service so I will still have plenty of options for things to watch should I please. I will also miss Pawn Stars, but again, my life won't be any less full without cable. Surprisingly Gizmodo had a good article on how to train your brain out of habits and how to help set new ones. It is a little more in depth than that sentence of course, the article is called How to Hack Your Brain.
Tonight I will be watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade for my top 100 blog, and I will do the review as well considering I have the house to myself this evening. Aside from that here are a few things that piqued my interested today, and if you haven't heard somehow, Egypt is a mess right now.
I was just talking about doing this because of how bad the drivers are here in Montgomery. Apparently they are pretty bad out it Dublin too.

Training, food, and internet goodness.
Bear says hi. It was a long day, but its ending right with some good food and a night of Halo Reach with the guys.
I stopped at the store today to get some stuff for dinner, and decided to make smoked salmon stuffed steaks. Nothing to fancy, just two Rib Eye steaks, filleted open and a 3oz pack of smoked salmon. Some sauteed baby bell mushrooms to top it all off and it turned out well for a on the fly meal. It will happen again.
Some of my friends saw this yesterday, and I figured it was too good to not pass along. We see geek mashups all the time, and this one combines extreme amounts of badassery. The only problem? I cannot imagine what Boba Fett would sound like screaming his head off every 3 seconds. Plus, he did get defeated by a blind man with a stick. At Least it took 10,000 persians to take down Leonidas.
Last thing today, something that is a little NSFW (not safe for family or work). If you know who DEADMAU5 is, you will probably appreciate, although you should appreciate anyhow. Your welcome and

Post New Years: Legos, Beer, and thoughts
So I have been a little lazy, and somewhat busy. Excuses right, we are all full of em. But it is what it is, and I am here.
I have spent the last week hanging out with friends, family and getting some projects on their next step to completion. Did a lot of socializing last week because one of our friends had his sister in town. It was a lot of fun, and made me and my fiance' realize that we wish that we would have met more people down here. Not to say that we have not found anyone that has similar interests or are fun to be around, but there really hasnt been anyone outside of military that we have become friends with, which is crappy. Every place I have ever moved to before I have always found people to hang out with, and maybe it is just us and not getting out enough, or maybe it is the people here I do not know. That being said, we have at least found a group of friends that we do enjoy spending our time with, having parties and going out, but the bars here are still terrible.
I finally built the Megabloks Halo Pelican I got for my birthday. IT was missing one piece is the only gripe I gripe I have, other than that, it went together well, is sturdy, and is an awesome set. I might even buy another just for the pieces, around 950 for 60 bucks is a good deal, because some friends and I are looking at a game called brikwars that allows you to play a tabletop war game with Lego/minifig creations. Brikwars.com I have a stock interwebz picture here, and ill post mine with a crappy timelapse slideshow tomorrow.
Last night it was time to bottle my beer that has been fermenting for the last two weeks. From what I can tell, it went well. The real test is two weeks from now when I can actually try it. Keeping my fingers crossed, but I am also already looking forward to me next brew. I might attempt a Mead, or some sort of Honey brew, something a little lighter to entertain with because a lot of the people I know down here do not really like Irish Reds like the batch that is brewing right now.
I also said some thoughts. I have had a couple days in the past week or so that have made me a little down. Nothing major, just shitty days. Now at first when you realize a day sucks, you just want to forget it and you give up on making it better. I also had to think though that I have had good days too, and that if every day was good, than would they really feel that way. Now hear me out for a minute. If you never had a bad day in your life, even the good days would just feel normal. You see stuff like this in the kids/people you know who are spoiled. They act like the nice things they have and fancy things they do are normal, because it has always been that way. But when you experience the same things, you feel like they mean more to you. Same thing when you really think about people across the world that are less privileged than you, your normal day is a wish come true for them. I guess what I am getting at is that at the very least, bad days only make the good days that much better, and really you should try and slow down and learn from your bad experiences, because change in habit or action can prevent those from happening again, and prepare you for the other unforeseens in your life.
On a lighter note, MIT students make Ketchup dispensing robot, these wont be taking over the world anytime soon.
